Intrepid Young Adults

A Holistic Path Forward: Intrepid’s Four Areas of Focus

At Intrepid Young Adults, our Four Areas of Focus provide a holistic framework for supporting growth, confidence, and autonomy. Education & Career centers on helping young adults discover their strengths, interests, and long-term goals while building the skills needed to pursue meaningful educational and professional paths. This includes exploring opportunities in the local community, participating in entry-level employment, and taking college courses to develop real-world experience. Whether at work or in the classroom, we teach young adults how to advocate for accommodations, improve their performance through reflection and feedback, and build confidence in academic and workplace environments. When our young adults understand what motivates them and where their strengths lie, they are better equipped to make choices aligned with their values.

Equally important is Health & Wellness, recognizing that success is grounded in both physical and mental well-being. This area emphasizes routines that support healthy nutrition, consistent sleep, regular physical activity, and the use of therapeutic support every week. Our young adults learn self-care practices, stress-management strategies, and ways to navigate their sensory and social needs, helping to reduce the overwhelm that can often accompany this stage of life. Alongside wellness, Relationships & Community are foundational at Intrepid. Feeling supported and connected allows our young adults to show up more fully, especially when facing challenges. By building relationships with peers, family members, mentors, and the broader community, they strengthen communication skills, practice empathy and perspective-taking, and learn to navigate social situations in ways that feel authentic and manageable.

Finally, Independence & Daily Living focuses on the practical skills that make everyday life run smoothly. From creating a weekly schedule, managing finances and transportation to maintaining a household and staying organized, this area of focus emphasizes practice, executive functioning, and effective problem-solving. As our young adults build healthy habits to be independent, they feel more confident and empowered in their lives. Together, Intrepid’s Four Areas of Focus work in balance, supporting our young adults as they build independence, pursue their personal goals, and create lives that reflect who they are and where they want to go in their future!
