Intrepid Young Adults

Intentional Support

Developing independence is not an easy task and requires the support of others who share similar goals and can offer guidance along the way. Our team is dedicated to providing the coaching and support young adults need to manage the stressors of life as a young adult while pursuing their goals. Through a coordinated network of on-campus and outpatient clinical, psychiatric, therapeutic, and supplemental services, alongside coaching for families, we ensure each young adult has the consistent, continuity of care and practical skills needed to build a life of joy, meaning, and fulfillment.

Weekly Core Team Meetings

Each Friday, every young adult meets with their Core Team, a small group of leadership staff focused on their individual progress. This weekly meeting offers a consistent space to evaluate growth, review and refine personal goals, and set clear direction for the week ahead. By keeping goal setting an active, ongoing process rather than a one-time exercise, Core Team meetings help each young adult stay accountable to their own progress while building the self-reflection and planning skills essential to lasting independence.

Clinical Support

Daniel Fishburn, LCSW, provides outpatient therapeutic support for each young adult. On campus, our team collaborates with Justin Messinger, LCMHCS, our Clinical Director, to provide clinically informed coaching and support, addressing executive functioning and the specific challenges each young adult faces as they work toward their goals. Together, this integrated approach ensures consistent, coordinated care and continuity of care that supports emotional growth alongside the practical skills needed for lasting independence. Through this process, young adults build the skill of engaging meaningfully in outpatient therapy, a habit that will serve them well beyond their time with us, while also having readily available clinical support each week on campus.

Psychiatric Support

We provide psychiatric support and medication management in collaboration with a local board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Gregory Narron and Associates. Our clinical team works closely with Dr. Narron and Associates to ensure continuity of care, coordinating around each young adult’s progress and closely monitoring medication effectiveness over time. This collaborative approach also helps young adults build the skills to communicate and advocate with providers, an important step in developing the self-reliance and confidence needed for lasting independence.

Parent Coaching

Justin Messinger, LCMHCS, provides weekly integrated parent coaching designed to support families as their young adult moves toward greater individuation and autonomy. This coaching helps parents align their involvement with their young adult’s goals, fostering a supportive dynamic that encourages independence rather than dependence. By working alongside our clinical team, Justin helps families navigate the natural tensions of this transition, ensuring that support at home reinforces the growth happening on campus.

Individual & Group Support

Our team, in collaboration with our leadership team, provides support in the milieu every week, working with young adults on the goals that matter most to them. Justin Messinger, LCMHCS, offers therapeutic support and clinically informed coaching both individually and within the group, ensuring that each young adult has consistent access to the care that supports their emotional growth alongside their pursuit of independence.

Occupational Therapy

When requested, our young adults have the opportunity to work with local outpatient occupational therapists on goals tailored to the practical challenges they face as they build independent lives. Our team collaborates closely with these OT partners to address executive functioning, sensory regulation, and daily living skills, ensuring the strategies developed in sessions carry over into the routines and responsibilities each young adult navigates on campus.

Supplemental Outpatient Services

In addition to the clinical support we provide, we also connect each young adult with local outpatient services tailored to their individual goals, including college and career coaching, nutrition services with a registered dietitian, or local specialists in areas of a key goal or need. These partnerships extend the support young adults receive on campus, helping them build the practical skills and healthy habits needed to pursue their goals with confidence as they gain independence.
