The Intrepid Program offers an alternative path to academic and career success that acknowledges the unique challenges and strengths of our students. Where ever you are on your academic journey, we’ll develop a plan together that suits your needs and helps you achieve your goals.
High School & Gap Year
For Young Adults completing High School credits and preparing for the next step whil building skills, confidence, and direction.
In collaboration with our partner school, Black Mountain Academy, students find opportunities to eventually pursue dual enrollment courses at our local community college.

For Young Adults entering college for the first time, or returning after a leave, Intrepid Young Adults provides a strong foundation the primes students for success.

- Support for navigating Accommodations and Campus Resources
- Planning and Support to achieve and maintain momentum
Career Track
For Young Adults who prefer hands-on learning and want a supported path into skilled trades and vocational careers, Intrepid Young Adults offers potential for students to earn an associate’s degree and/or apprenticeship opportunities.

Every path includes individualized academic, life skills, and clinical support from our Intrepid team. Together, we help each young adult define their path, set meaningful goals, and achieve.
College & Career Track
Our team provides intentional guidance for each young adult’s college and career plans, including opportunities to explore careers and further education up to and including supported college enrollment and placement in jobs and internships. We partner with the following local colleges and universities:
Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College
UNC Asheville
Warren Wilson College
Montreat College
Each individual will participate in a formal college and career exploration course, including personality and career assessment, preparing for and enrolling in college, and finding success in further education. We also provide vocational exploration with options for work experience, teaching in specialized vocational fields, and the potential for apprenticeships that lead to a meaningful career path.
Supported Employment
Our team provides coaching and guidance toward finding and maintaining employment. We focus on job exploration, resume building, preparing for formal interviews, and skills to navigate the complex interpersonal dynamics that emerge at work.
